Staking Stakes

Talk about getting out of hand. My tomatoes were wild and out of control! I took matters into hand this weekend and put up some stakes. Boy does it look better! I'm sure they appreciate it, some of the branches had looked ready to snap. It was a little awkward to set to set up in the pot mind you. This is one of those times I envy other gardeners with proper space ;) Never mind, I think I'm doing pretty well regardless. Will post some pics soon.

  1. Well, I don't know the exact situation of your plants but staking is always necessary and quite helpful in this regard........so keep it up :)

  3. Are you getting any rain there? I have heard it is very dry lately. How are your plants fairing?

  4. Thanks for the positive comments guys =)

Rosey, Sydney's actually been quite wet (and cold) the last few weeks, in contrast to a beautiful beginning to spring. The rain generally only reaches the plants on the edge of my balcony (if its at the right angle) so I have to water regardless. I make 5-10 trips back and forth... I learned the hard way, I should have bought a bigger watering can! lol. They're doing good though, thanks for asking =)

  5. I bought a bigger watering can this year, but it was too big when I filled it up it was too heavy. ( I must be getting wimpy) So, don't get one TOO big like I did. No more than 2 gallons. Unless you are Arnold Schwartzenagar. (sp) :)

  7. I wonder if there are any special ways that balcony gardeners can stake big plants like tomatoes, like clothes line, trellis, I don't know. Just randomly throwing things out there. Seems your tomatoes are quite happy though! :)
